原文速记:
DRINKING FILTERED WATER A The body is made up mainly of water. This means that the quality of water that we drink every day has an important effect on our health. Filtered water is healthier than tap water and some bottled water. This is because it is free of contaminants, that is, of substances that make it dirty or harmful. Substances that settle on the bottom of a glass of tap water and microorganisms that carry diseases (known as bacteria or germs) are examples of contaminants. Filtered water is also free of poisonous metals and chemicals that are common in tap water and even in some bottled water brands. B The authorities know that normal tap water is full of contaminants and they use chemicals, such as chlorine and bromine in order to disinfect it. But such chemicals are hardly safe. Indeed, their use in water is associated with many different conditions and they are particularly dangerous for children and pregnant women. For example, consuming bromine for a long time may result in low blood pressure, which may then bring about poisoning of the brain, heart, kidneys and liver. Filtered water is typically free of such water disinfectant chemicals. C Filtered water is also free of metals, such as mercury and lead. Mercury has ended up in our drinking water mainly because the dental mixtures used by dentists have not been disposed of safely for a long time. Scientists believe there is a connection between mercury in the water and many allergies and cancers as well as disorders, such as ADD, OCD, autism and depression. D Lead, on the other hand, typically finds its way to our drinking water due to pipe leaks. Of course, modern pipes are not made of lead but pipes in old houses usually are. Lead is a well-known carcinogen and is associated with pregnancy problems and birth defects. This is another reason why children and pregnant women must drink filtered water. E The benefits of water are well known. We all know, for example, that it helps to detoxify the body, So, the purer the water we drink, the easier it is for the body to rid itself of toxins. The result of drinking filtered water is that the body does not have to use as much of its energy on detoxification as it would when drinking unfiltered water. This means that drinking filtered water is good for our health in general. That is because the body can perform all of its functions much more easily and this results in improved metabolism, better weight management, improved joint lubrication as well as efficient skin hydration. F There are many different ways to filter water and each type of filter targets different contaminants. For example, activated carbon water filters are very good at taking chlorine out. Ozone water filters, on the other hand, are particularly effective at removing germs. G For this reason, it is very important to know exactly what is in the water that we drink so that we can decide what type of water filter to use. A Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) should be useful for this purpose. This is a certificate that is issued by public water suppliers every year, listing the contaminants present in the water. If you know what these contaminants are, then it is easier to decide which type of water filter to get.

好的,我们开始Task 1。理解段落大意(skimming for main ideas)是雅思阅读的关键技能。我们会逐段进行,我来引导你。
请阅读A段:
A The body is made up mainly of water. This means that the quality of water that we drink every day has an important effect on our health. Filtered water is healthier than tap water and some bottled water. This is because it is free of contaminants, that is, of substances that make it dirty or harmful. Filtered water is also free of poisonous metals and chemicals that are common in tap water and even in some bottled water brands.

A (1) The body is made up mainly of water. (2) This means that the quality of water that we drink every day has an important effect on our health. (3) Filtered water is healthier than tap water and some bottled water. (4) This is because it is free of contaminants, that is, of substances that make it dirty or harmful. (5) Substances that settle on the bottom of a glass of tap water and microorganisms that carry diseases (known as bacteria or germs) are examples of contaminants. (6) Filtered water is also free of poisonous metals and chemicals that are common in tap water and even in some bottled water brands.
🎓 陈教授的提示:段落分层解析
一个结构良好的雅思阅读段落,通常遵循“总-分”或“提出观点-解释-举例”的模式。A段就是一个经典的例子:
第1层 (句子 1-2): 背景引入 (General Background)
原文: “The body is made up mainly of water. This means that the quality of water… has an important effect on our health.”
提示: 作者从一个众所周知的事实(身体主要由水构成)出发,迅速引出“水质对健康很重要”这一前提,为你接下来的阅读设定了“健康”这个大背景。
第2层 (句子 3): 提出本段中心论点 (Thesis Statement)
原文: “Filtered water is healthier than tap water and some bottled water.”
提示: 这是本段最核心的一句话。它明确提出了作者的观点:过滤水更健康。
第3层 (句子 4): 解释核心原因 (Reason / Justification)
原文: “This is because it is free of contaminants…”
提示: 句子开头的 “This is because…” 是一个强烈的信号词,表明接下来要解释第2层(为什么更健康)。答案就是:它没有 (be free of) “contaminants”(污染物)。
第4层 (句子 5-6): 举例与展开 (Elaboration & Examples)
原文: “Substances that settle… microorganisms… are examples…” “Filtered water is also free of poisonous metals and chemicals…”
提示: 作者担心读者不明白什么是 “contaminants”,于是在第5句用 “examples” 给出具体例子(沉淀物、微生物)。第6句用 “also” 进一步补充了其他污染物(有毒金属和化学物质),并再次强调过滤水没有这些东西。
📚 词汇表 (Vocabulary List)
核心词汇 (Tier 1 - Must Know)

Filtered water is healthier because it is free of contaminants.
我们进入B段。A段告诉我们过滤水没有什么(污染物),B段则转向讨论自来水(tap water)有什么。
请阅读B段:
B The authorities know that normal tap water is full of contaminants and they use chemicals, such as chlorine and bromine in order to disinfect it. But such chemicals are hardly safe. Indeed, their use in water is associated with many different conditions and they are particularly dangerous for children and pregnant women. For example, consuming bromine for a long time may result in low blood pressure, which may then bring about poisoning of the brain, heart, kidneys and liver. Filtered water is typically free of such water disinfectant chemicals.
🎓 陈教授的提示:段落分层解析
这一段在雅思阅读中很常见,它使用了一种“引出问题-分析问题”的结构,并且包含了一个重要的转折词 “But”。
第1层 (句子 1): 提出一个普遍做法 (Common Practice)
原文: “The authorities know… tap water is full of contaminants and they use chemicals… to disinfect it.”
提示: 作者先陈述一个事实:当局(authorities)知道水脏,所以他们用化学物质(chemicals)来消毒(disinfect)。这看起来是个解决方案。
第2层 (句子 2): 强力转折,提出新问题 (Problem/Contrast)
原文: “But such chemicals are hardly safe.”
提示: “But” 是阅读中的关键信号词。这句话是本段的中心论点。它否定了第1层中那个“解决方案”的安全性。”hardly safe” 是一个强烈的否定,意思是“根本不安全”。
第3层 (句子 3-4): 展开论证 (Elaboration & Example)
原文: “Indeed, their use is associated with… conditions… particularly dangerous…” “For example, consuming bromine…”
提示: 作者用 “Indeed” (确实) 和 “For example” (例如) 来支撑第2层的论点(为什么不安全)。它列举了危害(与多种疾病相关)和高危人群(儿童和孕妇),并用 “bromine”(溴)作为具体例子。
第4S (句子 5): 回扣主题 (Conclusion)
原文: “Filtered water is typically free of such water disinfectant chemicals.”
提示: 最后一句总是很重要。它将B段讨论的“消毒用化学品”问题与A段的主题“过滤水”联系起来,再次强了调过滤水的优势。
📚 词汇表 (Vocabulary List)
核心词汇 (Tier 1 - Must Know)
authorities (n.): 当局,官方。
disinfect (v.): 消毒 (名词:
disinfectant消毒剂)。chlorine (n.): 氯 (常用于泳池和自来水消毒)。
bromine (n.): 溴 (另一种消毒化学品)。
hardly (adv.): 几乎不,根本不 (e.g.,
hardly safe= 根本不安全)。be associated with (phrase): 与…相关联。
pregnant (adj.): 怀孕的。
补充词汇 (Tier 2 - Good to Know)
conditions (n.): (在医学语境下) 疾病,健康状况。
consuming (v./n.): 摄入,消耗。
bring about (phrase): 导致,引起 (同义词:
cause,lead to)。
C Filtered water is also free of metals, such as mercury and lead. Mercury has ended up in our drinking water mainly because the dental mixtures used by dentists have not been disposed of safely for a long time. Scientists believe there is a connection between mercury in the water and many allergies and cancers as well as disorders, such as ADD, OCD, autism and depression.
🎓 陈教授的提示:段落分层解析
第1层 (句子 1): 提出本段中心论点 (Thesis Statement)
原文: “Filtered water is also free of metals, such as mercury and lead.”
提示: 注意开头的信号词 “also” (也)。这表明本段是并列关系。A段和B段说过滤水不含“污染物”和“化学消毒剂”,C段 也 补充了一个新类别:“金属” (metals),并用 “such as” 举了两个例子:mercury (汞) 和 lead (铅)。
第2层 (句子 2): 展开论证 - 汞 (Elaboration - Mercury)
原文: “Mercury has ended up… because…”
提示: 作者开始分别论述。这句解释了 “mercury” 的来源 (source) —— 牙医 (dentists) 处置不当 (not been disposed of safely)。
第3层 (句子 3): 展开论证 - 汞的危害 (Harm of Mercury)
原文: “Scientists believe there is a connection between mercury… and many allergies… as well as disorders…”
提示: 信号词 “connection between… and…” (在…和…之间有关联) 以及 “as well as” (以及) 都在告诉我们,这句在列举 “mercury” 导致的健康问题 (health problems)。
📚 词汇表 (Vocabulary List)
核心词汇 (Tier 1 - Must Know)
also (adv.): 也 (关键的并列信号词)。
metals (n.): 金属。
mercury (n.): 汞,水银。
lead (n.): 铅。
connection (n.): 联系,关联 (
connection between A and B)。
补充词汇 (Tier 2 - Good to Know)
end up in (phrase): 最终进入…,结果在…。
dental (adj.): 牙科的。
disposed of (phrase): 处理掉,丢弃。
safely (adv.): 安全地。
allergies (n.): 过敏 (单数:
allergy)。
D Lead, on the other hand, typically finds its way to our drinking water due to pipe leaks. Of course, modern pipes are not made of lead but pipes in old houses usually are. Lead is a well-known carcinogen and is associated with pregnancy problems and birth defects. This is another reason why children and pregnant women must drink filtered water.
🎓 陈教授的提示:段落分层解析
第1层 (句子 1): 引入本段主题 (Topic Sentence)
原文: “Lead, on the other hand, typically finds its way…”
提示: 信号词 “on the other hand” (另一方面) 是一个强对比/转换信号。它明确告诉我们,现在话题从C段的“汞”转向了“铅” (Lead)。这句话点明了铅的来源:管道泄漏 (pipe leaks)。
第2层 (句子 2): 补充解释 (Elaboration)
原文: “Of course, modern pipes are not… but pipes in old houses usually are.”
提示: 这句用 “but” 进一步解释了为什么管道泄漏会导致铅污染——老房子的管道 (pipes in old houses) 仍是铅制的。
第3层 (句子 3): 列举危害 (Harm)
原文: “Lead is a well-known carcinogen and is associated with…”
提示: 和C段的结构一样,在说明来源后,本句开始说明“铅”的危害:致癌物 (carcinogen)、怀孕问题 (pregnancy problems) 和出生缺陷 (birth defects)。
第4层 (句子 4): 提出结论/建议 (Conclusion/Recommendation)
原文: “This is another reason why children and pregnant women must drink filtered water.”
提示: 信号词 “another reason” (另一个原因) 总结了本段。同时,”children and pregnant women” (儿童和孕妇) 这个高危人群,在B段(化学消毒剂)也提到过。雅思阅读中经常这样前后呼应,加强论证。
📚 词汇表 (Vocabulary List)
核心词汇 (Tier 1 - Must Know)
lead (n.): 铅 (C段的核心词)。
on the other hand (phrase): 另一方面 (强转换信号词)。
pipe (n.): 管道,管子。
leak (n./v.): 泄漏。
carcinogen (n.): 致癌物 (雅思健康类文章常见词)。
birth defects (n.): 出生缺陷。
补充词汇 (Tier 2 - Good to Know)
typically (adv.): 通常,典型地。
find its way to (phrase): 进入了…,流向了… (比
enter更生动)。modern (adj.): 现代的。
well-known (adj.): 众所周知的。
be associated with (phrase): 与…
mercury(汞) 和lead(铅),但C段只讲了mercury。
“On the other hand” ->
🎓 陈教授的提示:段落分层解析
E段的逻辑链条(logic chain)非常清晰,层层递进,信号词也特别多:
第1层 (句子 1-2): 提出大前提 (General Premise)
原文: “The benefits of water are well known. We all know, for example, that it helps to detoxify…”
提示: 作者用 “well known” 和 “all know” 引入一个公认的事实:水本身是有益的,比如可以“解毒”(detoxify)。
第2层 (句子 3): 提出核心论点 (Core Argument)
原文: “So, the purer the water… the easier it is for the body to rid itself of toxins.”
提示: 信号词 “So” (因此) 表明这是基于第1层前提得出的结论。这是本段的核心观点:水越纯 (purer),身体排毒 (rid itself of toxins) 就越容易 (easier)。这是一个“越…越…” (the… the…) 的经典句型。
第3层 (句子 4-5): 应用于过滤水 (Application to Filtered Water)
原文: “The result of drinking filtered water is… less… energy on detoxification… This means… good for our health in general.”
提示: 信号词 “The result” 和 “This means” 将第2层的“纯水”概念具体应用到“过滤水”上。喝过滤水的结果 (result) 是身体在解毒上消耗更少的能量 (less energy),这意味着 (means) 对“整体健康” (health in general) 有益。
第4层 (句子 6): 解释具体好处 (Specific Benefits)
原文: “That is because… this results in improved metabolism…”
提示: 信号词 “That is because” (这是因为) 解释了_为什么_“消耗更少能量”对整体健康有益。 “results in” (导致了) 引出了一系列具体的正面效果:新陈代谢、体重管理、关节润滑、皮肤保湿。
📚 词汇表 (Vocabulary List)
核心词汇 (Tier 1 - Must Know)
detoxify (v.): 解毒,排毒 (名词:
detoxification)。

F There are many different ways to filter water and each type of filter targets different contaminants. For example, activated carbon water filters are very good at taking chlorine out. Ozone water filters, on the other hand, are particularly effective at removing germs.
🎓 陈教授的提示:段落分层解析
这是一个非常简短、结构清晰的“举例说明”段落。
第1层 (句子 1): 提出本段中心论点 (Thesis Statement)
原文: “There are many different ways… and each type… targets different contaminants.”
提示: 这句是总起句。它告诉我们两件事:1. 过滤方式很多 (different ways); 2. 每种方式针对 (targets) 不同的污染物 (different contaminants)。
第2层 (句子 2-3): 举例说明 (Examples)
原文: “For example, activated carbon… taking chlorine out.”
原文: “Ozone… on the other hand… removing germs.”
提示: 信号词 “For example” (例如) 开启了例子。”on the other hand” (另一方面) 则引出了第二个对比的例子。
例子1:活性炭 (activated carbon) -> 针对 -> 氯 (chlorine)。
例子2:臭氧 (Ozone) -> 针对 -> 病菌 (germs)。
📚 词汇表 (Vocabulary List)
核心词汇 (Tier 1 - Must Know)
filter (n./v.): 过滤器;过滤。

take… out (phrase): 移除,去除 (同义词:
remove)。on the other hand (phrase):
G For this reason, it is very important to know exactly what is in the water that we drink so that we can decide what type of water filter to use. A Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) should be useful for this purpose. This is a certificate that is issued by public water suppliers every year, listing the contaminants present in the water. If you know what these contaminants are, then it is easier to decide which type of water filter to get.
🎓 陈教授的提示:段落分层解析
这是文章的结论段 (Concluding Paragraph),它给出了一个非常具体的行动建议。
第1层 (句子 1): 提出核心建议 (Core Recommendation)
原文: “For this reason, it is very important to know… so that we can decide…”
提示: 信号词 “For this reason” (因此) 将本段与F段紧密相连。“这个原因”就是指F段的“过滤器是专门化的”。
“So that” (以便) 引出了目的。
核心建议: 必须先搞清楚水里到底有什么 (know exactly what is in the water),然后 才能决定 (decide) 用哪种过滤器。
第2层 (句子 2-4): 提供解决方案 (Solution/Tool)
原文: “A Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) should be useful…” “This is a certificate…”
提示: 作者没有只提建议,还给出了一个具体的工具——CCR报告。并解释了它是什么 (certificate)、谁发的 (issued by suppliers) 以及它有什么用 (listing the contaminants)。
第3层 (句子 5): 总结 (Conclusion)
原文: “If you know… then it is easier to decide…”
提示: 这是一个 “If… then…” (如果…那么…) 的条件句,它再次重申了第1层的核心建议,完美地结束了全文。
📚 词汇表 (Vocabulary List)
核心词汇 (Tier 1 - Must Know)
for this reason (phrase): 因此,由于这个原因 (强逻辑连接词)。
so that (phrase): 以便,为了 (表目的)。
Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) (n.): 消费者信心报告 (专有名词)。
certificate (n.): 证书,证明。
list (v.): 列出,列表。
present (adj.): 存在的,出席的 (此处指存在于水中)。
补充词汇 (Tier 2 - Good to Know)
exactly (adv.): 确切地,精确地。
decide (v.): 决定。
purpose (n.): 目的。
issued by (phrase): 由…
